Dr. Heather Brummett grew up dancing competitively in Phoenix, AZ as a top soloist and group dancer, winning several national titles and had several rewarding opportunities as a dancer. She was a VIP and toured with Dance Olympus as a faculty demonstrator, won convention scholarships to train in LA, and was one of the dancers in the 2nd Annual Tremaine Scholarship program at Tremaine Dance Studio. She danced professionally in LA being featured for a cologne commercial and danced on a Caribbean cruise ship for Anita Mann Productions. Heather has been a physical therapist and dance medicine specialist since 2001, opening up a successful physical therapy and Pilates clinic/studio in the Arrowhead community in Arizona. She trains dancers in her clinic in dance performance enhancement, injury prevention and overall dancer health. She provides workshops and master classes to both dancers and dance instructors. Dr. Brummett completed her Bachelor's in Exercise Science and Chemistry in 1997 and graduated with distinction in 2001 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University. She is a Polestar Pilates Educator and Pilates Instructor certified with The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA). She has been teaching movement strategies with Pilates since 2002. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the NSCA and is a Certified Manual Therapist (CMPT) with North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). Her intention with creating the Balanced Dance Medicine Academy is to empower dance teachers to create successful, smart, happy and healthy dancers!
